UK dubstep producer James Blake readies self-titled debut LP

If you haven’t heard of James Blake, no biggie; he’s only 22-years-old. But in a short amount of time, the London-based dubstep producer has released four EPs, worked with fellow producer Airhead, and done remixes for Untold and Mount Kimbie. Now, the youngster prepares the February 2011 release of his debut self-titled LP. We’re pretty sure most of us have done much less in our first two decades on Earth.

Blake’s version of dubstep is one of a bite more heart and soul, which would explain why the comparisons to contemporaries like Bon Iver, The xx, and Laura Marling are so apt. Blake actually got his start at London’s FWD>>, the dubstep night held at the Shoreditch club Plastic People’s cellar, so he also knows a thing or two about getting people on the floor. However, the producing virtuoso’s sound is also surely rooted in the soul and blues of American music, something you can clearly hear in the first single “Limit To Your Love” (whose video you can check out below.)

Stay tuned for more info, including a tracklist, as it’s announced. James Blake hits stores February 7th via Atlas/A&M.
