Watch: Elvis Costello & The Sugarcanes bring “National Ransom” to Letterman

As Elvis Costello looks to introduce the masses to his newly released, 452nd studio album National Ransom, he will dust off his ol’ suit and don his signature glasses twice on late night this week. First up was a stop at The Letterman Show Monday night, where the music great offered a taste of his T Bone Burnett-produced Americana alt-bluegrass by performing the album’s title track. “Radio Radio” this is not, as Costello is about one Stetson and a southern accent away from pure country song. Slide guitar, fiddle, squeeze box, upright bass, and a bluesy progression make this song more of the same Costello we heard on Secret, Profane, & Sugarcane.

National Ransom is available starting today via Hear Music. Costello & Co. will further support the release with a performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this Friday.
