After a turbulent couple of months for Against Me!, it appears they’re back in true form with two solid months of touring to ring in the new year. Before opening up for The Dropkick Murphys, the band (+ Jay Weinberg) will headline a winter leg of the tour. And to raise some more eyebrows, along for the ride is Seattle folk rockers Fences.
After a strong showing at CMJ this year, Chris Mansfield, the singer/songwriter behind Fences, has been supporting their recently released self-titled debut. Mansfield’s bare folk tunes are dark, and honest, and come with sharper edges with each new release. Not to mention, Mansfield tats rival Weezy’s — so that’s bad ass. If you find this match seemingly incongruous (cow-punk + heart-on-sleeve folk), Tom Gabel recently spoke with Spin and intimated that Against Me! could be looking at many different directions after their separation with Sire Records. Couple that with their recent release of an acoustic 7″ release, and this little tour may hold some surprises for fans.
The tour will kick off January 15th in Tom Gabble’s home state of Florida, and wind its way over and up to Madison, WI in February. Also in tow for the first leg are Michigan rockers Cheap Girls. You can pick up your tickets for the show at Seat Geek.
