Well, we know three people who won’t be attending Prince William’s wedding next spring. According to a new blog post titled “Detained and Deported,” Brooklyn hip hop trio Das Racist were denied entry into the United Kindom last Sunday and then detained for “8+ hours” before being deported back to Switzerland. As a result, they were forced to cancel a December 13th performance at the Cargo in London.
The group blamed their “POLITICAL VIEWS!” as the reason for their detention, but didn’t go much further than that. They did, however, offer a description of their accommodations:
“We were held in a room with books, prayer rug and compass, television and remote, and these horrible sandwiches (cheese and onion, egg and cress, etc.). Also, ‘digestive biscuits along with Walkers crisps (Salt & Vinegar, Salt).
We were there with two Iranian men, a Brazilian woman who spoke only Arabic and an Indian man with a student visa who couldnt speak a lick of English. Our people!”
Das Racist promise to return to the UK soon. In the meantime, they have a few more dates scheduled in Europe before heading back stateside in the New Year for a January 14th performance in Washington, DC.
