How do we really know Dr. Dre‘s Detox is finally ready for release? Well, in addition to a brand new single, “Kush”, and its accompanying multi-million music video, the iconic rapper has also announced plans for an ambitious promotional campaign to be held within the Facebook game Mafia Wars. And we thought the hype machine behind My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was intense.
Starting this weekend, Mafia Wars will feature a new portion of the game called “Hustlin’ Wit Dre.” Players will be able to collect Dre-inspired virtual goods — like headphones, weapons and a car — as well as watch both the “Kush” music video and an exclusive video message from Dre himself, reports Billboard. Players can also enter to win a pair of Beats By Dre headphones and a signed copy of Detox, which, according to the issued press release, will be released early next year.
