Usually, St. Patrick’s Day traditions involve slamming copious amounts of green beer and blacking out. However, if you’re a fan of Celtic punks Flogging Molly, then you’ll know that St. Patrick’s Day is a wee bit more important than a single day of celebration. So, for the seventh year in a row, the band have announced their “Green 17” tour, a rousing six weeks of shows where everyone’s Irish, leading up to the actual March 17th blowout in Tempe, AZ (via PunkNews.org). Faith and begorrah!
The actual tour kicks off on February 8th in Dallas TX. From there, it’s a group of shows throughout the Lone Star State, into Florida, up the Eastern seaboard, down into the Midwest, and then hitting up Luckyman’s St. Patrick’s Day Bash on that most green of holidays. From there, it’s a couple more dates, ending on March 19th in Oakland, CA, before St. Patty’s Day is finally over add you can stop drinking.
The band are also in the studio recording the follow-]up to 2008’s Float, which should be releases in spring 2011. Expect the band to play new tracks during the course of the tour. Wow, all that luck and no kissing of a Blarney Stone involved.
