Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy hits #1

It was to be expected, but now it’s official. Kanye West’s much-acclaimed fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, tops the Billboard Top 200 Albums for the week of Tuesday, November 22nd, reports MTV. The Chicago MC moved 495,000 units of his latest album, which exceeds the 450,145 copies that his fourth studio album, 808s & Heartbreak, sold in its first week. That said, MBDTF’s sales rank far behind his two other most recent albums, 2005’s Late Registration and 2007’s Graduation, which sold 850,00 and 957,000 copies, respectively. Oh, and for those wondering, Taylor Swift’s latest album, Speak Now, sold 1,047,000 units in its first week. So in this case, Taylor > Kanye.

Nicki Minaj’s much-anticipated debut, Pink Friday, came in at #2 this week, selling 375,000 copies.
