Los Campesinos! launch zine, give away new music

Having released three studio albums and two EPs in a four year and embarking on twice as many world tours in support, one would think Los Campesinos! would use their current time off to, um, rest? But we know them better than that; in fact, in the blog entry announcing their new quarterly zine, the Glasgow rockers noted the following:

“We at Los Campesinos! like to keep busy. The now traditional routine of being in a band: tour, record, develop drug addiciton, has long struggled to contain us. We’ve tried to cultivate as healthy and interactive a community around us as possible, through all the social networking means that this very century has to offer us, but, y’know, that’s not quite enough.”

With that in mind, let us detail this new quarterly zine, known as Heat Rash. Yummy! Once every four months, the zine will arrive at your doorstep with pages of exclusive writing and artwork, as well as a limited edition 7″ featuring music not available elsewhere. Zine subscribers will also receive discounts for the band’s online store, plus they will no longer have to pay those nasty processing fees when buying tickets for future concerts. And if all that weren’t enough, subscribers will receive two new Los Campesinos! Christmas songs — “Kindle a Flame In Her Heart” and “The Holly And The Ivy” — on December 20th. Hymn sheet included!

Heat Rash intended to allow us to act in the moment, to talk about what we want to, as a platform for other mediums of ‘art’, and to write and release songs in a more spontaneous way,” Los Campesinos! explained. “This will hopefully allow a less formal, more fluid, DIY vein of work to develop alongside, and outside, of our album releases.”

An annual subscription to Heat Rash will cost you £25, which doesn’t include the shipping cost us Americans must pay. Still, hymn sheets! Click here for more information. Also, you can stream the aforementioned Christmas song “Kindle a Flame In Her Heart” below.
