Pete Doherty to make acting debut in Alfred De Musset biopic

Pete Doherty’s next piece of recorded work is going to be a remake of John Cage’s “4’33””, so it looks like the next time you’ll actually get to see or hear him do anything may be in his upcoming movie. Yes, you read that right. Contact Music is reporting that the 31-year-old frontman of Babyshambles and The Libertines is set to star alongside fellow musician Charlotte Gainsbourg in a film based on the life of 19th century dramatist, poet, and novelist, Alfred De Musset.

The film is still untitled, and Doherty says he’ll start filming in Paris on December 27th. While we’re a little upset that he gave up his gig as a jewelry maker to try acting, we’re actually more worried about the poor best boy who’ll be in charge of keeping the ex-Mr. Kate Moss out of trouble because for his part, Doherty seems a bit confused as to how he landed the role. “I don’t know if I’m a good actor,” he told the UK’s Sun, “but they say I am.” We don’t know who “they” is yet, but we sure can’t wait to see the results.
