Summer Sonic‘s Christmas present comes in the form of their 2011 headliners — Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Strokes. As leaked by drummer Chad Smith a few months back and confirmed today, the Peppers will deliver their second confirmed performance of 2k11 at the Japanese festival, while the headlining spot will mark The Strokes’ first scheduled 2011 performance outside of Europe. Both outfits are expected to be supporting new studio albums.
Summer Sonic runs August 13-14 in the cities of Tokyo and Oaska, Japan. Like UK’s Reading and Leeds, bands will play one city the first night, then the second the next. Ticket information is still forthcoming.
