Nowadays, there’s a lot of different personalities in the rap game. Usually speaking, MCs of comparable personalities tend to flock together (that’s why everyone in Wu-Tang Clan likes comic books and samurai films.) However, that doesn’t always have to be the case, especially when rappers are looking to make a bigger name for themselves. That’s undoubtedly the shared passion that led Wale to sign with Rick Ross‘ Maybach Music Group, reports Nah Right. It may also stem from their shared love of tea cozies, but that’s merely speculation.
Signing to Maybach means that Wale is now a member of the Def Jam label, whereas Mr. Folarin released his debut, Attention Deficit, via Interscope. The rumors began swirling about Wale’s move after the DC rapper tweeted about the signing last week, writing “It had to be done.. 2011 gonna be serious situation.” Despite their differing styles, Ross said in the recent issue of The Source that Wale is a hustler. I feel hes one record away from being the next n***a. Hes just a naturally fly n***a. Slick talking n***a. Thats right up my alley. I just think that comradery, riding with Rozay, itll mean that much more.”
No word yet on when Wale’s first release for the label will be, but Ross also confirmed that he’s interested on being involved with the creation and development of whatever it may be. Gangsta raps about Seinfeld? Sign us up!
