Recently, the church were inducted into the Australian Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for their decade-spanning career. While some bands may see this as a time to sit on their laurels, the Sydney-based rock band are doing what they do best: hitting the road. As part of their “Future Past Perfect” tour, the church will pay a visit to North America next February.
Though limited in quantity, the band’s 10 scheduled North American dates aren’t just any regular shows. As per the tour’s title, the church will perform three critically-acclaimed albums for each concert. They’ll begin the evening in the present with their most recent work, 2009’s Untitled #23. From there, they’ll perform 1992’s fan favorite, Priest=Aura, an album that wasn’t toured in America during its original release. Finally, the night will end with their classic record, 1988’s Starfish. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased through SeatGeek.
In related news, reissues of the band’s first four albums — Of Skins and Heart, The Blurred Crusade, Seance, and Heyday — are now available in the U.S. via Second Motion Records. Fully remastered with bonus tracks, the reissues feature digi-packs with rare photos and exhaustive sleeve notes written by Marty Willson-Piper. Reissues of Starfish, Priest=Aura, Gold Afternoon Fix, and Sometime Anywhere are due in 2011. Also available is the comprehensive double CD compilation Deep In the Shallows, featuring liner notes from David Fricke of Rolling Stone.
