While November brought news that the newly re-formed Get Up Kids would be pimping their brand new album There Are Rules all along the left side of nation, Alt Press has just posted more tour dates revealing that the 15-year-old emo outfit will be spending the springtime traversing the Southeast, Eastern seaboard, and Midwest.
The dates run from February 23rd to March 15th (culminating with a hometown gig at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, Kan.) and oddly find Matt Pryor & Co. playing two-night stands in just a handful of municipalties. The itinerary shows that Orlando, New York, and Philly are all lucky recipients of back-to-back shows from The Kids, and while the original dates are probably just selling quickly, wouldnt it be great if the band got all Weezer on us and spent the two nights playing every song from their five album discography?
All speculation aside, what we do know is that the support on the tour is going to be top notch. Brooklyns own Miniature Tigers and Brian Bonz are both slated to open the springtime shows and with the addition of bands that generally draw a younger fanbase, this tour is either going to give tweens a chance to peep some vintage pop-punk or make thirty-somethings with beards feel even more ancient than they already do.
The Get Up Kids released a brand new song, Pararelevant, along with the tour dates, and you can trade your email address for a download at their website. The full tour itinerary is listed below and tickets prices range from $19-$23. Pre-sale for the second leg of the tour starts on December 10th and more ticketing information is available here.
