Watch: Paul McCartney, She & Him, Crystal Castles, Phosphorescent play late night

Perhaps it’s only appropriate that on the eve in which we select our favorite music festival of 2010, the late night television circut was the equivalent of a mini-music extravaganza, both in terms of quality and diversity. Sir Paul McCartney headlined the festivities, first chatting with Jimmy Fallon about his first-ever visit to the White House and his Band on the Run reissue, then teaming up with him for a performance of “Scrambled Eggs”, the never-before-heard original version of “Yesterday”. (It’s as awesome as it sounds.) Macca then concluded his appearance by paying tribute to his friend and former band John Lennon with a rendition of the song “Here Today”, off McCartney’s first post-Lennon album, 1982’s Tug of War.

Sub-headliners She & Him jimmy jangled along to a cover of “I Put a Spell on You” on Conan (CoCo <3’s Screamin’ Jay Hawkins), while Crystal Castles weirded out Kimmel with “Baptism”. And on the up and coming front, folk riser Phosphorescent made a dazzling late night debut on Letterman with a performance of “It’s Hard To Be Humble (When You’re From Alabama)”.

You can watch Macca and J-Fal play “Scrambled Eggs” at the top and the rest of the aforementioned clips are posted below. Update: She & Him also teamed up with Coco for a web exclusive performance of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. You can watch that below as well.
