Pearl Jam may be holding a festival somewhere, some time, but we can tell you exactly when and where Wilcos own Solid Sound Festival will be next year. According to a brief e-mail sent to members of WilcoWorlds mailing list, the music and arts festival will return to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, MA during the June 24th-26th weekend.
Last year, Solid Sound hosted some 6,000 attendees at the same Museum. The event, which featured music performances, a comedy stage, and art/sound installations on the museums campus, raised an estimated $1.5 million for the local economy. No word yet on who will appear at version 2.0, but the release does brace fans for a January 18th announcement of ticket information and more, so keep locked here and on the Festivals website.
The Wilco boys are currently at work on their next album, which will surely be showcased at Solid Sound. With this, Nateva, and hopefully a followup to Life is Good, it looks like Newport doesnt hold dominion over New England music festivals anymore. Cheers for diversity!
