Following in the footsteps of Dave Grohl and The Strokes’ Nikolai Fraiture, Beastie Boys’ Mike D sat down with BBC 1‘s Zane Lowe earlier this morning to lay out the hip hop trio’s forthcoming endeavors. Namely that Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 will indeed arrive this Spring and that the group is currently working on a massive music video. “We’ve got a video we got to finish, a big video,” Mike D said. “I know people don’t make big videos any more but we made a big video. It’s not even a video, it’s a film-eo. A cinematic, short film.” Sounds like we got our answer for what this bad boy is.
Mike D also confirmed that the Beastie Boys are “open” to touring behind their new album, but any roadtrip ultimately depends on the health of bandmate Adam Yauch (MCA), who was diagnosed with cancer in 2009. “We’re still going to have to see how he’s doing.”
Mike D did not getting into any specifics as it concerns release dates, but the aforementioned music video is expected to debut at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. Of course, more details as they become available.
