The late Mark Linkous left behind an unfinished collabo with Azure Ray, a song left off the duo’s 2010 comeback album Drawing Down the Moon. Sparklehorse and Azure Ray recorded a demo of “Silverlake”, the band’s first song together since reuniting (via TwentyFourBit). Since that session, the song has received a facelift and is out as a single.
According to TwentyFourBit, Saddle Creek labelmate Eric Bachmann performed the surgery, pulling together Linkous and bandmate Scott Minor’s Knoxville, Tennessee recordings with new tracks. What resulted is the single version of the song, which, along with the demo, you can get on iTunes. The track is also available as a free download from Saddle Creek if you sign up for the mailing list. Be good now, and appreciate a fallen hero.
