Dinosaur Jr. side projects hit the road this spring

The long, white waterfall that J. Mascis has for hair could have its own show. The man looks good, like if Saruman got fired from being a goblin or whatever and became a radio DJ. If you’re inclined to agree, then make sure to check out Mascis and his untousled locks as the Dinosaur Jr. star strips down for this next trip around the U.S. — by going on the road with Kurt Vile and Black Heart Procession on an acoustic solo tour to support his new album Several Shades of Why, due out March 15th (via Pitchfork).

For the first time since his 1996 acoustic tour, which produced his first solo acoustic album Martin + Me, Mascis and his fuzz metal band won’t be shredding our faces off. Instead, he will hit up some smaller venues across the U.S. to support their upcoming album. Later in the leg on the West Coast, Black Heart Procession will open up for Mascis. Mascis’ album, also an acoustic affair, is peppered with guests like Kevin Drew from Broken Social Scene, Band of Horses’ Ben Bridwell, Sophie Trudeau of Thee Silver Mt. Zion, and tourmate Vile.

Equally exciting and just ahead of Mascis’ road trip, Dinosaur Jr.’s bassist Lou Barlow will take his band Sebadoh on the road as well. The tour will support the forthcoming rereleases of their 1994 album Bakesale and 1996’s Harmacy, and is aptly titled “Bakesale/Harmacy Remembering Time Tour.”  The tour currently leaves out the better part of the Midwest and East Coast, but per Sebadoh’s Twitter, an East Coast leg will be announced soon. Check the dates sub., below the Mascis dates.

Lest you should forget about these albums, they will be rereleased on Sub Pop in North America and on Domino in Europe, with the European version of Bakesale on shelves April 4th. Check out Slicing Up Eyeballs for all the lo-fi details.
