Ellie Goulding brings Lights to the U.S.

She may not be a household name over here, but if her success in her native England is any indicator, get ready for Ellie Goulding to take American charts by storm. Thus far, our only taste of Ellie has been the 4-tack An Introduction to Ellie Goulding EP and a Rihanna cover, but that will change on March 8th when the 24-year-old signer/songwriter celebrates the U.S. release of her debut full length, Lights, via Cherrytree/Interscope.

Described as “electro-folk-acoustic-pop,” Goulding’s warbly, otherworldly voice coupled with impressive stage shows have led The New Yorker to dub her “the future of music.” Her videos have garnered multiple millions of views on YouTube (“Starry Eyed” is close to 13 mill.), and she’s a bona-fide UK success (Lights hit #1 on the charts). In an attempt to breach the American borders, Lights will come packaged with three tracks those in the U.K. missed out on on the original release; “Lights,” “Animal”, and a cover of Elton John’s classic “Your Song”.

Whether the songstress will actually have the cross-over success of other recent imports like La Roux or Robyn is anyone’s guess, but she certainly has the chops. While it’s not entirely indicative of her sound in general, you can check out her talent in the rather sweet rendition of “Your Song” in the video bellow, and click the video links above for more.
