Friendly Fires plan to blaze through summer tour

It’s been almost three years since UK natives Friendly Fires hit the scene with their dance-rock infused, Mercury Prize nominated, self-titled debut, and truth be told, we kind of miss them. Their sophomore effort was originally planned for May 2010, but as often happens with these things, it got heavily delayed. No worries, though. It looks like they’re finally ready to unleash the beast this spring, as the support tour is already laid out.

As of now, the record is tentatively titled Pala, though with no firm title, expecting a firm release date is just illogical. We do know, however, that the album was mainly self-produced, although Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Florence + The Machine) did lend his talents to the project. More information on this as it comes.

With regards to touring, two bicoastal one-offs are planned for February; one in New York and another in Los Angeles. Following this, the band will hit up Australia’s Good Vibrations Festival and then return back to the States for Austin’s SXSW. On May 24th, the tour supporting Pala, or whatever it’s called by then, will kick off in Philadelphia, continuing through 12 other cities, including New York, DC, Boston, Seattle, etc. If you’re not feeling the love overseas, no worries there. The trio is also scheduled for Germany’s Hurricane & Southside Festivals and Spain’s Benicàssim Festival.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on Pala as more information becomes available. Until then, prepare to check out the new tunes on any of the tour stops listed below. Hat-tip to Under The Radar for the story.
