Janet Jackson takes her "Number Ones" on world tour

With her potential role in the supposed Jackson 5 reunion a now distant memory, Janet Jackson will instead venture out on the road for her own world tour this Spring. As the title suggests, the six-week “Number Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour” will see the pop icon celebrate her greatest moments — the setlist will be culled from her 2009 compilation, Number Ones — in an intimate setting. Well, as intimate as an arena tour can get.

“These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done. I will be as up close and personal as possible,” Jackson said in a statement (via Billbaord). “These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you’ve made number ones for me. Let’s go!”

The tour kicks off in Houston on March 4th, with a two-night stint in Chicago to follow on March 7th and 8th. Jackson will then hit major cities on both coasts before capping the trek off with two nights in Las Vegas on April 22nd and 23rd. Pre-sale tickets will be available starting Wednesday, January 12th, with a public onsale to follow on Friday, January 15th. Visit Janet Jackson’s website for complete ticketing information.
