The worst question you can ask an artist is, “What does your art mean?” Essentially, there’s no good answer however truthful the answer may be. Artists cringe at this question because they hate a) explaining their art, b) giving the stock answer “it’s meant to be different for each person” or worst of all c) admitting they have no worldly idea what they’re doing with their art. Liam Gallagher apparently has no worldly idea what he’s doing with his art.
“I don’t know what any of my tunes are about, they’re just out there,” Gallagher told Mojo magazine for their March issue (via Sydney Morning Herald). “I’m not good with words. I just say the first thing that comes into my head.”
Making up one half of the Brothers Gallagher known for their role in leading the brit-rock band Oasis to the top of the charts in the 90’s, Liam is now musically split from his brother Noel and is set to launch his career afresh with his new band Beady Eye. When asked about the band’s new single “Wigwam”, Liam offered his insight: “Fuck knows, I haven’t got a clue, man.”

Different Gear, Still Speeding, the debut record from Beady Eye, hits U.S. shelves March 1st and will include the aforementioned “Wigwam.” Credit is due to Gallagher for saying what a lot of artists are just too afraid to admit: “That’s words, that’s all, that I think sort of go together. There’s a bit of something … people might see it as being a bit of beating up someone on the booze a bit. But it’s nothing to do with a wigwam. Or as some Japanese girl said the other day ‘what is it about, a man with a wig?’. I don’t know.”
