Little Scream announces debut album, The Golden Record

Today we have been let in on what Aaron Dessner (The National) and Richard Parry (Arcade Fire) first discovered last April: Laurel Sprengelmeyer, aka Little Scream, has talent in abundance. Raised along the Mississippi River, Little Scream was introduced to the violin and piano as a child, but didn’t pick up the guitar until her parents’ painful divorce. With her delicate acoustic guitar, naturally yearning vocals, and waves of underlying echoes, Little Scream’s debut LP, The Golden Record, sets aim at each listener’s visceral emotions.

Co-produced by Parry, The Golden Record features Little Scream on guitar, vocals, violin, and keyboard. The album’s 10 tracks also showcase Sarah Neufeld (Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre), Mike Fuerstack (Snailhouse), Becky Foon (Silver Mt. Zion), and Patty McGee (Stars). Plus, Sprengelmeyer teams up with Dessner on “The Heron and the Fox”, which you can hear below.

The Golden Record will be released via Secretly Canadian on April 12th. Prior to the drop, Little Scream has planned a two-month North American tour beginning February 1st in Kingston, Ontario, and ending April 17th in Washington, DC; all stops can be found below.
