When an artist finally drops the tracklist for their upcoming LP, it’s usually pretty cool news, but not something worthy of celebration. However, in the case of Panda Bear (Animal Collective member Noah Lennox), when said tracklist for Tomboy finally gets announced (via Hipster Runoff, yes, really), it’s just more proof that the thing truly exists (which is reason enough to go apeshit crazy).
The issued press release also provides a few more specifics on the album. Recorded in Lisbon, Portugal, the album was mixed and arranged in part by Spacemen 3 member Peter Kember (Sonic Boom). Kember (who also produced MGMT’s Congratulations) actually contacted Lennox after hearing his work on 2008’s Person Pitch, leading to this project.
The press release also notes that Tomboy will be released in standard vinyl and CD formats, as well as a special hi-fidelity DMM vinyl version and a box set of 12″ singles.
Tomboy hits stores April 19th via Paw Tracks. Check out Lennox and the rest of AnCo on tour in Europe throughout May (with a stop at Coachella beforehand to boot.) Update: The band has also set four California shows for the days leading up to Coachella.
