Although we named them our 2010 Band of the Year, don’t expect The Roots to rest on their laurels for 2011. Along with their nightly gig over at 30 Rock, the acclaimed hip hop crew are set for their seventh annual “Roots Jam Session” on February 12th. ?uestlove and co. will celebrate their six Grammy nominations on the eve of the awards with a familiar face, host Jimmy Fallon, who will follow in the footsteps of Don Cheadle, John Legend, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Dave Chappelle.
So far, this year’s list of special guests remains unknown, but past collaborators include Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Mos Def, and the Black Eyed Peas. The exact location hasn’t been revealed either, but we do know it’ll take place in Los Angeles, CA and that Hennessy Artistry will serve as the presenting partner.
Were extremely proud and humbled that what began as a simple night to put the focus back on the music has become an amazing opportunity to unite both major artists and new talent in an impromptu musical collaboration unlike many other experiences in the industry today, while also providing a voice to some extremely worthwhile cause campaigns, ?uestlove says in a press release.
