With a 3D video and two tracks already on the web, Travis Barkers solo record has finally pinned down an official release date. The Blink-182 drummer announced via Twitter that Give The Drummer Some will drop on February 22nd (almost one year to the day from when we first reported on it).
Its fair to wonder how a drummer, who has never attested to any singing ability, pieces together an album of more than just instrumentals. Barkers answer is pretty simple: get everyone whose name doesnt end in West to pitch in. The album hears collaborations with Eminem, B.o.B, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, RZA, Raekwon, Slipknot/Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor, Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington, Tom Morello, Slash, Rick Ross, Drake, Lupe Fiasco….. hell, just about everybody (yes, the list goes on)! Those helping Barker produce include The Neptunes, DJ Khalil, Swizz Beatz, DJ Premier, and Dr. Dre on at least one track (yep, therere more producers, too). And you thought Kanye had some wicked collaborations.
Barkers Twitter account also promises a tour behind the record, as well as a 2011 return of his group The Transplants, featuring Rancids Tim Armstrong and Skinhead Rob Aston. Be on the lookout for more on both of those. The star studded Give The Drummer Some lacks a complete tracklist, but a partial, tentative one can be found below (note Hard Liquor is absent here, though it can be found on Tech N9nes Bad Season mixtape and is expected on this album). Look for the first single, Can The Drummer Get Some?, later this month.
