When you’ve been doing the whole jam band thing for as long has Phish has (28 years to exact), you have to find ways to keep things fresh. Like covering Rage Against the Machine. Frontman Trey Anastasio is also mixing things up for his forthcoming North American tour; for the first time in over a decade, his shows will feature both solo acoustic and full electric sets.
According to Hidden Track, the trek begins in Portland, Maine on February 18th and will then see Anastasio head down the east coast, stopping along the way in Albany, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. After that, he’ll loop west on his way to stops in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Chicago, Denver, and ultimately, Los Angeles and Oakland. For the trip, Anastasio will be backed by the same supporting cast as the one that accompanied his 2010 solo outing; Tony Markellis on bass, Russ Lawton on drums, and Ray Paczkowski on keyboards, as well as a three-piece horn section featuring Jennifer Hartswick, Russ Remington and Natalie Cressman.
A ticket pre-sale will begin Friday, January 14th. For complete venue and general public onsale information, visit Anastasio’s website.
