Wiz Khalifa announces Rolling Papers, plays Lopez Tonight

These days Pittsburgh’s Wiz Khalifa has three main concerns: his rhymes, his hometown Steelers, and of course, the chronic. Apparently the rapper didn’t pick up too much from his recent arrest on marijuana possession, because there is never a shortage of clever references via his twitter. So, it wasn’t really too big a surprise when he tweeted the title to his upcoming album – Rolling Papers.

“It’s not just about the weed thing,” Khalifa revealed to Popdust. “It’s bigger than that. My career really took off when I started smoking papers … The second reason I called it Rolling Papers is when I left Warner Bros., I sort of got my ‘rolling papers.’ I got my contract, fucking rolled up and smoked.” He continued, “I write notes down, but I don’t write whole verses, so it was like saying goodbye to the paper. The paper’s rolling out too. So everything is real natural.” Just to clarify, all this is coming from an “all-day medicator”.

Rolling Papers is set for a March 29th release via Atlantic. A full-tracklist and official cover will be released shortly, with the next single, “Roll Up”, debuting January 31st. Rick Ross, Too $hort, Snoop Dogg and Curren$y are all reportedly making appearances on the release.

With the Steelers making the Super Bowl, be prepared for two solid weeks of Khalifa, as his single “Black and Yellow” has turned into the anthem for their playoff run. Check the clip below to see the rapper performing the track live on Lopez Tonight last night.
