2 Live Crew’s Luther Campbell runs for mayor of Miami-Dade County

As a music fan, we already know that you follow all this stuff to avoid talk of boring politics. But here’s a story even the most apathetic of voters must hear: Luther Campbell, rapper and former leader of 2 Live Crew, is running for mayor of Miami-Dade County, reports Prefix. Hey, Jesse Ventura got elected, so why not?

Current Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez is facing a recall election slated for March 15th. In an interview with the Miami New Times, Campbell said his decision stemmed from the MC being “mad frustrated” at the state of the city, which he said “looks the same as when I was in the neighborhood growing up.” Campbell’s main priority is to better serve the larger populace of the eighth-most populous county in America and where some 50% of the population are foreign born. Among the goals outlined on his platform (via the local CBS affiliate in Miami):

— Run on a campaign of transparency
— Create new jobs
— Rebuild the James E. Scott housing projects
— Tax strippers

About time the strippers of Miam-Dade County stopped getting a free ride.
