Since nabbing the #1 album in America, The Decemberists have been in quite the giving mood, be it a gig on Yo Gabba Gabba! or a plethora of extra tour dates with Justin Townes Earle. Going one step further, Colin Meloy and co. recently recorded a cover of R.E.M.’s “Cuyahoga”, off of 1986’s Lifes Rich Pageant, during a stop at KCRW. A fitting choice since in an interview in October 2010, Meloy said The King Is Dead, which features three collaborations for R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, was inspired by the legendary Georgia outfit.
