As cliched as it may be, the phrase “when it rains, it pours” can be fairly accurate some of the time. For instance, when it comes to recent developments of Iggy & The Stooges, a veritable hurricane has formed.
As previously reported, the band looked to capture their headlining performance at last year’s ATP New York by soliciting six fans to serve as cameramen. On April 5th, MVD Entertainment Group will release the complementing 180-gram vinyl version of Raw Power Live: In the Hands of the Fans. The eight-track effort documents the entire 35-minute explosive performance, including renditions of “Search and Destroy”, “Gimme Danger”, and, of course, the title track.
Continuing the nostalgia trip, Shout! Factory is releasing a four-CD set of newly remastered bootlegs entitled Roadkill Rising: The Bootleg Collection 1977–2009). This release, part of an official series given the OK by the artists, features cuts taken from a range of concerts in the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and as recently as a May 2009 gig in Paris, FR. And lastly, if you’d still like your chance to see the band live, there’s at least one chance stateside this spring. According to AnnArbor.com, the band will be playing the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, MI as a tribute to original guitarist Ron Asheton, who died in Janaury 2009. The show goes down April 19th, with Henry Rollins as MC and openers including Deniz Tek.
