It shouldn’t be hard to forget that Greg Dulli once fronted 90’s rock legends, The Afghan Wigs, but after watching him lead his current outfit – The Twilight Singers – through a bombastic performance of “On The Corner” on Kimmel last night, you might actually find yourself simply marveling at what’s unfolding on stage. And thanks to The Audio Perv, you can look up and see a clip of the Ohio-based six-piece tearing through the Dynamite Steps track like they’re on some kind of mission.
The four-minute clip opens with the 45-year-old Dulli shaking a tambourine while he gazes at the crowd through black Wayfarers, and even though synth pulses and a mellow guitar lick buoy the intro, the track finally gets blown wide open at the 1:21 mark with the rest of the band contributing to a wall of distorted chords and chugging riffs. There’s even a guitar solo, harmonizing, and what sounds like a bit cowbell. It’s definitely worth a few repeated views and even prompted Kimmel to “run out of time” for Matt Damon again.
