We’ll keep it brief this week, as I’m traveling (please forgive me, I got tickets to Godspeed You! Black Emperor in CA. I’m sure you understand). First things first: last week’s accolades. First place goes to Hodgy Beats and Tyler, The Creator (aka two members of Odd Future, the absolute coolest thing in underground hip-hop right now), two artists that made short work of Jimmy Fallon’s establishment, much to Mos Def’s pleasure. Second place is going to go to the awkward/incredibly endearing interview and performance that James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem did on The Colbert Report. This week is a win for everything indie. Deerhunter, Adele (2x), Destroyer, The Mountain Goats, Janelle Monae, Broken Bells, Menomena, Chromeo (who just finished off their North American tour), and the first late night appearance by Bright Eyes since the release of their latest, The People’s Key. Good week all around.
