LCD Soundsystem‘s farewell concerts aren’t for another six weeks, but the acclaimed outfit has already begun to say their goodbyes. Last night, James Murphy and co. hit The Colbert Report for their final television appearance, and while it may not have proved as memorable as their 2007 performance on Letterman, awkwardness always makes for good television. Murphy proceeded the live music by sitting down for an all-too-brief interview with Colbert, which saw the frontman struggle to come up with words to explain why he was deciding to retire on top. This was then followed by a four minute performance of “I Can Change”, a song choice that probably didn’t earn them any new fans. That’s probably a good thing though, considering my hope to acquire tickets to at least one of the four Terminal 5 gigs.
Below you, watch the performance and the interview.
