Brian Wilson schedules New Jersey Show, reimagines Disney songs

Way back in November, we told you that legendary The Beach Boys singer Brian Wilson would be going on his first-ever Canadian tour before crossing the Pacific for some UK dates. We also questioned why he wasn’t showing any love for us stateside fans. Well, smile, everyone, because it turns out Mr. Wilson does love us. Or he loves New Jersey, anyway — at least someone does.

Before he heads up north, Wilson will play a one-off gig in Montclair, NJ at the Wellmont Theatre. As of now, that’s it for U.S. shows, so you’ll either have to head up to the land of Canucks or cross the pond if you aren’t willing to visit the Garden State. Tickets are currently on presale for AMEX customers, and general sales open March 4th.

That’s not all, though. A number of European dates have been added following his UK shows and his headlining spot at Isle of Wight’s Bestival 2011. Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo will all get performances durin the last few days of September. Granted, there’s almost a two-month gap between the Canadian and European tours, so maybe we can cross our fingers that he’ll show some more local love.

What’s he going to play on these days? According to BrooklynVegan, the acclaimed musician will be performing his latest LP, Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin, in its entirety, plus select must-hear hits from his Beach Boys days. If you’re not familiar with the Gershwin record, it sees the California legend reshaping some classic Gershwin compositions to his own unique flavor. And if you like it, you’ll love this piece of news: It’s been revealed that he recently completed another “reimagining” album, this time of classic Disney songs. Who else can’t wait to hear him redo “Hakuna Matata?” We’ll keep you updated as more information is released. For now, see his complete current tour schedule below.
