Chromeo record world’s smallest album, Drive Time

If you need any further evidence that the entire world has ADD, then listen to Chromeo‘s Dave 1 talk about the band’s new album, Drive Time: “In this age of information, you don’t have time to sit through a three-four minute song.” Yes, as our friends at Some Kind of Awesome point out, the Canadian electronic duo will follow up last year’s Business Casual by releasing a 55-track effort that clocks in at 183 seconds.

It sounds like a joke (and it probably is), but according to Holy Moly, the album does indeed exist, though is limited to 40 copies. Recorded at the Stratosphere Sound Studios in New York City, and mixed in London by legendary producer Dave Bascombe (Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp, Tears For Fears), Chromeo said the album essentially consists of the “essence of every song we could have written.” Below, you can watch the album’s accompanying promo video.

There are no details on how you can obtain a copy, but it probably helps if you’re either a friend of the band or have an eBay account. Chromeo will look to support the release with a series of scheduled festivals appearances.
