With Okkervil River’s new album, I Am Very Far, dropping in May, and an opening performance for Arcade Fire planned for April 30th in Dallas, it was really only a matter of time before we got an extended tour announcement. Well, the wait is now over.
The Austin based indie-rockers will stick close to home to kick-off the tour, playing 4 gigs over 3 days during South By Southwest. One-off dates exist in April and May, then the tour really begins to pick up steam once summer arrives. Okkervil will hit up most of the north east in early June, before heading west with scattered performances throughout the Midwest. After venturing into Canada June 20th, the band next slide down California with stops in San Franciso, Los Angeles, and San Diego. The tour wraps up June 28th in Lubbock, Texas.
With Titus Andronicus, Future Islands, Julianna Barwick, and New Villager serving as openers, tickets are sure to get snatched up quickly, so check you’re local venue or Seat Geek for ticket information. I Am Very Far drops May 10th via Jagjaguawar, and the tracklist can also be found below.
