Odd Future were already on a fast track to stardom prior to South by Southwest, which meant their appearance at the Austin-based festival wasn’t much more than an opportunity for the masses to catch the LA collective live and in person. (Oh, and if you didn’t hear, it was totally worth the riot.) By my count, Odd Future played five shows, in addition to Mellowhype’s own performances, a slew of media interviews, and getting krunked at a bunch of indie shows. Yet despite the full itinerary, the group’s de facto leader, Tyler, the Creator, and fellow daredevil Hodgy Beats took some time to deliver a freestyle for SB.TV.
