After a busy 2010, which included the release of Somewhere on the Golden Coast and opening for Silversun Pickups and Drive-By Truckers, The Henry Clay People have the itch to make 2011 just as special. As a result, this May, we’ll see the release of the LA-based trio’s new EP, This is a Desert.
For those who enjoy long waits, here’s a first taste of what’s to come. “The Winter Song” stands as a slacker ballad that’s densely produced, adding layers of reverb to a relatively straightforward song structure. The opening line, “If you’re feeling lost then maybe we’ll get found…we’ll kill some time watching cars drive by…we’ll make some messes just to clean up,” will certainly feel appropriate when matched up with the music video available exclusively at Cluster 1. To put it simply, it’s a backstage fight between the brothers from Henry Clay People fighting for three minutes. They roll around on the floor, hit each other with drumsticks, and have a chaotic battle that fits more with Screeching Weasel’s recent exploits than this group.
Fun.
