You can call Wavves a lot of things. A lo-fi surf rock band, a bunch of stoners, a group with one fairly lucky frontman, but there’s definitely one label that you’d might not expect to be able to drop on Nathan Williams and company: literalists. While previous clips were beyond trippy (even without John Norris), the clip for the title track of their latest album is a pretty literal translation. Wearing crowns, the band (which in this clip is simply Williams and bassist Stephen Pope) reign supreme over their beach-ly kingdom, doing everything a good pair of kings would do: smoke tons of weed, talk a walk on the sand, smoke tons of weed, eat Mexican food, smoke tons of weed, greet their adoing public while wearing fat gold ropes, and…. enjoy the waves. What, did you think we’d say something about smoking tons of weed?
