Yuck’s Daniel Blumberg announces new solo project, Oupa

Looks like indie rock darling Daniel Blumberg (of Yuck) just can’t sit still. Only weeks after releasing Yuck’s self-titled LP — which happened to be named a CoS Top Star —the London-born frontman returns with yet another project: Oupa. Although it sounds like a nemesis of Super Mario, Oupa is Blumberg’s solo project, which he plans to support with an LP and a short tour. An issued press release offers little is the way of details, but the seven track LP, simply titled Forget, is due sometime this June. If you love Yuck, and Blumberg’s preference for late ’80s, early ’90s reverb rock, scroll below for a stream lead single and title track “Forget”.

As we mentioned, Blumberg will hit the road for a few select dates in London, New York City, and Nashville. It all kicks off, however, with an appearance at this year’s (jaw dropping) South by Southwest on March 17th (his other band is playing there, too). In a match made in heaven, another date in New York on April 9th will be spent opening for indie legends Sebadoh.
