In my years on Facebook, I’ve managed to avoid a lot of the regular occurrences that have become a part of the social networking giant. I’ve never played FarmVille, I don’t quote famous inspirational quotes, and I’ve  thankfully never stalked an ex (more than what was normal and healthy). But one of those annoying pitfalls I have fall into is the 30-Day Song Challenge. Here, hapless folks post a new song a day that reflects parts of their life, from their favorite tune to a track that describes their inner self and even the musical offering with their favorite bassline. Really, it’s just a chance to show people your self-described amazing taste in music, but one has to love it for the sheer thrill of discovering new music or finding forgotten cuts. If you’re not on-board with all that, though, or perhaps you need more songs to use to plumb the depths of your soul and wow a friend or two, then here’s the Friday Mixtape. This week’s installment features new music from Ganglians, Dirty Vegas, Oneida, Thee Oh Sees, and more, plus loads of remixes and covers, the latter of which comes compliments of our friends at Cover Me. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll also find loads of mp3s from up and comers you just might want to check out. Now get back to updating your status with the latest snack you just had.
