Roger Daltrey may be 67 years old, but the living legend hasn’t lost his love for the stage just yet (dude’s still got it). This summer, The Who singer will head to the UK and dust off his band’s acclaimed catalog, specifically Tommy, unarguably the most popular rock opera about a blind, pinball enthusiast.
Unfortunately, it appears that his axe-man, Pete Townshend can’t join him, due to increasing hearing problems (Keith Moon was his drummer after all), but appropriately Townshend’s brother, Simon, will take over for his big bro.
“Great to see Roger performing Tommy with his band in 2011,” Pete Townshend recently told the Guardian. “It is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band re-interpret the old Who songs. I will be there in spirit, and Roger has my complete and most loving support.”
The trek is set to launch July 3rd in Alchester and runs until July 24th. The 15 dates listed are all we get as of yet with no word on whether Mr. Daltrey plans on bestowing the same honor to his stateside fans. Best to start booking your plane tickets now.
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 6th via Ticketmaster.
