Once again marrying traditional mariachi with a touch of punk, Los Angeles punk rockers The Bronx will release the second album under their alter ego Mariachi El Bronx on August 2nd through ATO Records. The album, like all previous releases from The Bronx, will be self-titled.
The first Mariachi El Bronx album, released in 2009, developed out of a Fuse TV performance, which was set to be acoustic. Not wanting to play unplugged, the band instead decided to tap into their LA roots and perform as a mariachi ensemble. Since adopting the new sound, the band has been playing as both acts, most recently at festivals at home and abroad, and with headliners like Rise Against and Foo Fighters. They will also appear at Dave Matthews Band Caravan in Atlantic City and Chicago in support of Mariachi El Bronx (II), which puts a modern punk twist on conventional love-themed mariachi songs.
