The music video for Max Burgundy‘s “Life Ain’t Funny” starts with a quintessential New York scene. Burgundy busks his away through a subway car, onlookers mostly ignoring his attempts. The rest of this shouldn’t be ignored by anyone though. Boombox in hand, the hip hop MC maneuvers through dizzying crowds and raps in the middle of zooming traffic. Director Oliver Irving takes us on an adventure through the city and into the life of the homeless character he plays. One scene even shows Max on the “Henry Rivera” street in the Bronx which was named after his father who died saving someone’s life. That one sentence is more than enough reason to watch.
