2001: A Space Odyssey is such a landmark film that nearly every sci-fi film after it has borrowed some aspect or another. In Nick Davidge’s video “For 12”, the influence is far greater. Other Lives‘ singer, Jesse Tabish, starts out as an astronaut above the surface of Mars. Crashing through the atmosphere, his character finds himself in a solitary alien world, empty except for a mysterious black triangle. Sound familiar? All that’s missing is HAL and Also sprach Zarathustra.
