Many things about Edmonton’s Gobble Gobble are peculiar upon first discovery, the least of which was that name selection. With the band’s newest LP on the horizon, the electro-pop project will now be known as something slightly more flattering, Born Gold. And if you successfully decipher the explanation of leader Cecil Frena, it seems the change has been a long time coming.
“We have been slowly coaxing this caterpillar into a butterfly with our fists,” explained leader Frena via press release. He also offered advice on how to break-in the new name, “Check it out, girl — a new face to fit both our past to date and the futuresex we are slowly growing into. Stand before a mirror, hold your palm over your right eye, and repeat Born Gold six times.”
The band’s first round of futuresex, Bodysongs, hits September 20th via Hovercraft/Crash Symbols. Check out the complete tracklist, lead-single “Alabaster Bodyworlds”, and footage of “Lawn Knives” below.
