Arson seems to make little sense in most situations; teenagers destroying some of the best indie-rock inventory stored in the U.K. makes none. In response to the PIAS warehouse fire on August 8th, and the subsequent loss of their stock, UK label Finders Keepers has launched a 10-volume, label mate-curated series called Make Do and Mend. Each volume is set to include an individual curator’s favorite songs from the expansive Finders Keepers’ family catalogue, as well as exclusive cuts, edits and remixes. Confirmed curators include Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, the dynamic duo Demdike Stare, David Holmes, Super Furry Animal’s Gruff Rhys, Zola Jesus, and Prefuse 73, among others.
The Cocker-curated volume one is available now, with Finders Keepers dropping the remaining nine every two weeks for the next five months. Subscribe to the entire collection now, or pick up the individual volumes via CD or digital download. Checkout Cocker’s selections below, with select streams available for closer examination.
