Oupa – “Windows”

Have you ever seen a thaumatrope? It’s an optical illusion device that creates an image of a bird in a cage when spun rapidly. “Windows” take that concept and applies it to video. Instead of a single image, the spinning frame gives us a whole slew of random scenes from director, Maxi. Shots of the sun in the sky, close-ups of eyes, and a man holding flowers that slowly burst into flames – this constantly revolving video takes you through the window in Oupa’s mind again and again.

Oupa is the solo project of Yuck’s Daniel Blumberg. It’s debut album, Forget, was released this August on Fat Possum in the US and in the UK on Blumberg’s newly launched label, Boiled Egg.
