Check Out: Bon Iver’s stripped down “Beth/Rest” for NPR’s World Cafe

Say what you will about Bon Iver‘s recent self-titled LP, but there’s no denying the massive sonic expansion Justin Vernon and company underwent for the project. But perhaps to demonstrate that these songs still have power without all the extra musical garnish, Vernon appeared on NPR’s World Cafe today to perform a stripped down version of the normally-extravagant “Beth/Rest”. Head here to listen to Vernon (already on his second NPR appearance in just a month’s time) and a piano take the “cut straight from Bruce Springsteen’s savory cheese-fest of an album, Tunnel of Love“, as our own Winston Robbins described it, to a whole new level of profound minimalsim.

Bon Iver the album is out now.
